Staff Sgt. Javares J. Washington, 27, of Pensacola died Monday at Camp Buehring in Kuwait City, Kuwait, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, the Army said Thursday.
Washington was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. He joined the Army in 2001 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2007.
2 men accused of illegal gill netting
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers arrested two Bradenton men on charges of illegal gill netting on the Manatee River before dawn Thursday morning, the Bradenton Herald reported.
Roger A. Darling and Cecil Truelove were caught with 700 yards of gill net in the water, and the netting contained 600 pounds of ladyfish and a few pompano, according to wildlife officer Louis Hindes.
Darling and Truelove were charged with felony use of gill netting in state waters and misdemeanor failure to transit a gill net directly from state to federal waters. Each felony carries a fine of up to $5,000, each misdemeanor up to $500. The charge also carries a suspension of any commercial fishing licenses and a civil fine imposed by the state.
