Beth Shalom of Brandon, 706 Bryan Road, holds a special education weekend Feb. 29 and March 1 with Rabbi Michael J. Cook, a professor at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati.

The event marks the congregation's 18th anniversary.

The schedule of services and lectures, open to the public, includes Shabbat services beginning at 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 29 with a speech titled, "Jews, Jesus & Gospel Dynamics: Has Advice of our Ancient Sages Ceased to Be Sage Advice?"

March 1 features Shabbat morning services and study beginning at 10 a.m. and a Havdalah service at 7:30 p.m.

South Brandon Baptist Church, 4929 Bell Shoals Road, is promoting a message of getting R.E.A.L. The acronym stands for "Radically Excited About the Lord," and the group meets every Friday night. There's a 7 p.m. session for high school seniors through age 30, with an 8:30 p.m. worship.

Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, 604 N Valrico Road, presents a show by the musical Lord Family at 6:30 p.m. today. The Lord Family includes parents and six children who sing, play instruments and also use puppets, video and other stage equipment. Friendship Baptist Church, 1511 El Rancho Drive, Sun City Center, offers a Sunday and Wednesday Bible study, a women's mission union, and information on interpreting for the deaf. Call 633-5950.

The Tree of Light Metaphysical Awareness and Worship Center, 209 Elrod Drive, presents several programs each month. Offerings include alternative healing, spiritual development, a monthly healing circle and worship services. The Brandon group holds Sunday services at 7:30 p.m. Call 689-1751.
