March Madness doesn't start for a couple of weeks, but who needs basketball when we've got other round objects to obsess about: Girl Scout cookies. The scouts started selling and delivering the classic cookies this past weekend. We put together a sports-inspired bracket in honor of this annual tradition. Then we decided which of the eight cookies would reign supreme if we ruled this particular tournament. Disagree? You can dispute our rulings at

Round 1 - Elite Ate

(1) Thin Mints

Description: Dark chocolate-coated minty cookie.

Stats: Each has 38 calories and 1.8 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Oil of peppermint.

What we like: You can fit four at a time in your mouth and after they're gone, you have that minty fresh feel.

What we don't like: That we never order enough.

(4) Lemon Chalet Cremes

Description: Lemon sandwich cookie.

Stats: Each has 80 calories and 3 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient:Annatto color, which was used to represent fire, sun and blood in early American Indian civilizations. Who knew?

What we like: Intense lemon flavor in an intricately designed cookie.

What we don't like: The lemony aftertaste. Yuck!

(2) Tagalongs

Description: Cookie base topped by peanut butter, coated in milk chocolate.

Stats: Each has 75 calories and 5 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Thiamine mono nitrate. Huh?

What we like: It's like a crunchy Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

What we don't like: There aren't enough in the box.

(3) All Abouts

Description: Vanilla cookie with chocolate accent

Stats: Each has 30 calories and 1.4 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Niacin

What we like: It's like the younger, bolder, more chocolatey sister to the Trefoil.

What we don't like: Inspirational messages such as "courage'' are a little puzzling on a cookie.

Round 1 - Elite Ate

(1) Samoas

Description: Doughnut-shaped coconut, caramel and chocolate cookie.

Stats: Each has 75 calories and 4 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Carrageenan, seaweed extract. Does that count as a vegetable?

What we like: Imagining an island made of coconut and caramel drizzled with chocolate.

What we don't like: Finding out that Southwest Airlines doesn't visit imaginary islands.

(4) Sugar Free Chocolate Chips

Description: The name says it all.

Stats: Each has 53 calories and3 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Sorbitol, which can have a laxative effect, the label warns. Ewww!

What we like: Clever scouts capitalizing on our guilt for overeating other varieties

What we don't like: You lost us at sugar-free.

2) Do-si-dos

Description: Peanut butter sandwich cookie.

Stats: Each has 55 calories and 2.5 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Invert sugar.

What we like: The fact that it's named for a real dance. Can you imagine a cookie that represented the Electric Slide or the Soulja Boy?

What we don't like: Lack of chocolate.

(3) Trefoils

Description: Shortbread cookie in the classic Girl Scout emblem shape.

Stats: Each has 30 calories and 1.4 grams of fat.

Interesting ingredient: Buttermilk.

What we like: The buttery goodness and wholesome design.

What we don't like: The way the cookie crumbles. However, if the crumbs stay on your shirt, you have a snack for later.

Round 2 - Final Four

(1) Thin Mints vs. (2) Tagalongs

What we like: Both are covered in chocolate, which you can lick off and still have an entire cookie to eat.

What we don't like: It's a tough call, but there's too much hype for the Thin Mints. Peanut butter prevails. At least it has protein. Upset special

Round 2 - Final Four

(1) Samoas vs. (3) Trefoils

What we like: Trefoils have the most cookies per box of any Girl Scout variety. But Samoas have the three C's: caramel, chocolate and coconut.

What we don't like: Trefoils are just too dull compared with the Samoas. Must be the seaweed.

(1) Samoas vs. (2) Tagalongs

What we like: Getting caramel all over our faces while chomping on Samoas. The happy feeling of having Tagalong peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth.

What we don't like: Nothing! But there has to be a winner. Hmmm, a Pacific island or someone who tags along with you. Pacific island!
