VOLLEYBALL PARENTS LOOK FOR LEAGUE PARTICIPANTS

There are very few, if any, competitive volleyball teams in Pasco County. But Randy Dagistino, the legendary Berkeley Prep volleyball coach, is looking to change that.

The move is led by Brenda Johnson, a volleyball mother looking to help her family, as well as many of her friends' families, find a way to play competitive volleyball just north of the Hillsborough-Pasco county line.

That is, Tampa Bay Juniors Volleyball club is looking to branch out and create multiple teams,.

"Essentially, there are families that want to become part of our organization, put together a group in that area," Dagistino said. "We always want to expand, make more teams."

Tryouts should be in late October, according to Dagistino, but he will meet with Johnson for the first time in Arizona, when their kids, Jessica Johnson and Kyle Dagistino, will be playing in the 2008 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships.

From there, they'll be in talks to get the teams up and running.

Anyone interested in being part of these teams should contact Melanie O'Carroll at (813) 465-8985.
