The Florida Public Service Commission will hold a public meeting in Tampa on Tuesday regarding Tampa Electric's plans to increase base rates next year. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Blaise F. Alfano Conference and Banquet Center at 11606 N McKinley Drive in Tampa.

Forecast for global travel to be shared

American Express will release its global business travel forecast for 2009 on Wednesday, amid signs that companies are ordering road warriors to travel less, buy down and strictly follow travel policies. The annual forecast was postponed last month to factor in the impact of the financial crisis on corporate travel.

Crist to address economic forum

Gov. Charlie Crist will speak at the Department of Labor's Opportunity Conference: Navigating Economic Uncertainty on Thursday in Orlando. The free one-day conference will feature workshops for business owners; those wanting to work with federal, state and local governments; and those considering working for the federal government. Existing home sales numbers for September will be released at 10 a.m. Friday. They were down in August in the midst of a tight credit market after a gain in July.
