BEAN, Edward R. 100, of St. Petersburg, died October 18th, three days from his 101st birthday. He was born in a one-room log cabin in Ridgway, IL, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1927. He was a graduate of a high school in Eldorado, IL. Ed was a veteran of the Coast Guard, having served from June 1942 until December 1945 as Chief Pharmacist Mate. His assignments were on a Destroyer Escort and a Landing Craft Infantry throughout the Pacific during World War II. As Chief Pharmacist Mate he was responsible for the health of the crew of the 12 LCI's in the Coast Guard Pacific Front. Much of his Coast Guard memorabilia has been donated to and is on display at the National Coast Guard Museum in St. Augustine, FL. He was employed at the Veterans Administration for 37 years in St. Petersburg. Ed was a proud member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was an avid gardener and a devoted Rays fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah B. and Paul S. Rowe; granddaughter, Heather R. Gipson and her husband Mel; sister, Wilma P. McDaniel; nieces, Aimee Dell Domeier, Ann Evans, Edna Earle Sims, Linda Ericson, and Anne McDaniel; nephews, Jerry Bean, David Bean, Edward Reid McDaniel, and John Sims; many great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved dachshund, Laney. We have been honored and blessed to have known this amazing man, and to have had him as a part of our lives. He shall be remembered and loved every day. Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. M L King St. N. BISCHOFF, Calvin James 64, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Bischoff was born Nov. 20, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Mr. Calvin Madison Bischoff and the late Mrs. Anna Houck Bischoff. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bischoff worked for Publix Super Markets, Inc. in the Produce Department at the Mirror Lake store. Survivors include his adoring and devoted wife of 40 years, Mrs. Bobbie Bischoff of Villa Rica; his daughter, Kellie Moore of Villa Rica; his son, John Bischoff of St. Petersburg; his sister, Nancy Gaffney of Philadelphia, PA; his brothers, Hap Bischoff of Oreland, PA and Charlie Bischoff of Palmyra, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Katie, Austin and Taylor; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at 3 pm from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Chaplain Asa Mansham officiating. BUNTROCK, John H. 78, of South Pasadena, died Wednesday Oct. 15, 2008, at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Born in Waukon, IA, he received his BA from the University of Iowa and worked as an electrical engineer for Lockheed California. He was an Army veteran of Korea. Survivors include his wife, Katherine; 3 daughters, Diane DiBiccari, Bonnie Chisholm, and Sheila Haut; a son, Ross Buntrock; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. McCALL III, Thomas Fain 75, Our beloved father, brother, friend and soul mate passed away Oct. 17. Tom was born and raised in St. Petersburg. After serving in the Air Force and graduating from FSU he began his family. Tom's enthusiasm for history took him from Virginia to Arizona and many adventures in between. Tom was also a hot air balloon enthusiast. Tom was a descendent of the pioneering McMullen family. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed playing his bagpipes. He followed his heart and returned to St. Petersburg. Tom was blessed to be surrounded by loving family and friends. His quick wit and stories will be terribly missed by all who met him. MELLEN, Mildred Ann 85, a former longtime resident of Gulfport, died Feb. 2, 2008, in Napa, CA. Mildred was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Rocky Bay, Nova Scotia, the daughter of John and Margaret Doyle. She was a member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and spent more than 27 years serving as an LPN at convalescent centers throughout the region. Her life was dedicated to Elder Care and even in later years she enjoyed visiting local care homes entertaining residents as part of her harmonica club. Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lawrence Joseph Mellen in 1987. She is survived by her sons Lawrence Wayne Mellen of Napa and Robert Francis Mellen of Punta Gorda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am, Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Gulfport. SKINNER, O. Ralph 83 of Seminole, died Oct. 17, 2008 at Hospice Woodside. He was born in Vinton County, OH, and moved here in 1950 from Columbus. He retired after 25 years service with Sears. STEVENSON, Agnes O. 86, passed away Oct. 8, 2008, under the care of Hospice. She was born in Scotland, where she married Donald B. Stevenson and where their sons were born. The family moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1952, and then to Florida in 1965. She was a homemaker. Agnes had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glasgow, Scotland. She was also a life member of the Daughters of Scotia, a Past Chief Daughter and was currently a member of the Susan Blair Lodge #255. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband. She is survived by 2 sons, Donald and wife, Wanda of Fairplay, CO, and Ian R. and wife, Elizabeth of Largo; 2 grandchildren, Robbie and wife, Suzanne, of Las Vegas, NV and Dana and fiance, Travis Foster of Bartlesville, OK; 2 step grand- children, Melissa Thomas and husband, Chris, of Plano, TX and Michael Silvestro and wife, Nichole, of Clermont, FL; and 2 step great-grandchildren, Rhyse and Irelyn. TSOLIS, Stephen son of Samuel and Elizabeth, was born in New Haven, CT, Oct. 21, 1918, survived by his wife of 71 years, Marie; a son, Ronald J. Tsolis, Sr. of Dunedin, and a surviving sister Georgianna Fazio of Leeds, NY. Prior to his retirement and move to Dunedin, Stephen resided in West Haven, CT. His years of employment included A.C. Gilbert of New Haven, CT and Moore Special Tool of Bridgeport, CT. Stephen was a 60-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge in West Haven, CT. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Eugene Tsolis of Westbrook, CT; a sister, Wilma Smolley of New Haven, CT; and brothers, George Tsolis of East Haven, CT, Peter Tsolis of New Haven, CT, and a half-brother George Chiales of Orange, CA. Stephen also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Dawn Plumb of Ivoryton, CT, Wendy Carter of Deep River, CT, Stephen Burt Tsolis of Fort Mill, SC, Renee Tsolis of Davis, CA, Catherine Erving of Moultonboro, NH, Ronald J. Tsolis, Jr. of Cary, NC, and Kristen Tsolis of Monterey, CA; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
