OUT OF BOUNDS
Big-spending Jets fans are sealing their bids for the best seats in the house with a click. Online bidding went as high as $65,100 per seat through the first two days of the team's unprecedented auction of 2,000 personal seat licenses. The PSLs are in the Coaches Club - near the 50-yard line and behind the Jets' bench - in the new Meadowlands stadium, scheduled to open in 2010. Fans can specify their seats through the online ticketing Web site StubHub. The auction ends Oct. 27.
Yarborough happy to share, sort of
Cale Yarborough never expected it would take 30 years for someone to match his feat of winning three straight NASCAR Cup titles. Now that two-time reigning Sprint Cup champ Jimmie Johnson seems likely to do it, Yarborough has mixed feelings. "The handwriting's on the wall," Yarborough said in a telephone news conference. "It's going to happen. I understand that I was Jimmie's hero when he was growing up, so if he does it more power to him," the longtime star added. Then that old competitive streak showed. "That don't mean I'm pulling for him," Yarborough added, laughing. "But, if he does it, I'll be in good company."
"Our guys can count. We've all taken math here at Vanderbilt."
