Jets QB Brett Favre, below, said Wednesday that he spoke to ex-Lions president Matt Millen but denied disclosing information they could use against the Packers. Favre, who had a bitter split with Green Bay in the offseason, said Millen asked him to go hunting and they briefly discussed football. "I didn't give him any game planning," Favre said. "I haven't been in that offense in over a year." The Packers beat the Lions 48-25 on Sept.14. Jay Glazer, who broke the story on Fox NFL Sunday, defended his reporting: "... I don't go on what just one person told me. I investigated this fully and for quite some time. I spoke with several sources."

Clothes go back on for competitions
To raise money for training and competitions before the 2010 Olympics, five members of the Canadian women's biathlon team released a nude calendar. Wednesday, they promoted it by roller-skiing through downtown Calgary. They were clad in shorts, tank tops and race bibs with rifles strapped to their backs.
It's a coincidence, right? ... right?
Monday, Philadelphia Eagles safety J.R. Reed, a standout at USF and Hillsborough High, wore a Rays jersey at the team's practice facility. Tuesday, he was cut when fullback Kyle Eckel signed. To be fair, Philadelphia needs a fullback. They were using defensive tackle Dan Klecko there after Tony Hunt was cut two weeks ago.

"After 65 minutes of sitting on the bench - and I should know because I sat on the bench a lot - it is not easy sitting that long and then going in. It's not a five-on-five. It's a shootout with highly skilled players."
Darren Pang, TSN analyst and perennial backup during his goaltending career, criticizing the Leafs; coach Ron Wilson, by the way, said he won't hesitate to do it again
