Six St. Petersburg Times arts and entertainment critics will be featured at this year's Festival of Reading.
Visual arts critic Lennie Bennett and performing arts critic John Fleming will appear for a panel discussion, "The Art of Hard Times," at 10 a.m. in USF Davis Hall 102. Bennett and Fleming will engage in a dialogue with the audience to share perspectives on how the grim economic situation will affect the arts, especially locally.
Pop music critic Sean Daly and film critic Steve Persall will go mano a mano over which of them is the real king of pop culture in a panel discussion, "Daly and Persall: Feel the Warmth," followed by a freewheeling Q&A, at 11 a.m. in the Poynter Institute South Pavilion.
Taking a break from deciphering election spin, TV and media critic Eric Deggans will talk about "Navigating Modern Media's Mess: The New Shape of Newspapers, TV and the Internet in the 21st Century and How It Affects You" at 10:15 a.m. in USF Davis Hall 105.
Book critic Colette Bancroft will talk about reading for a living, the future of the book and how she gets through 200 books a week in "Get Your Nose Out of That Book for a Minute" at 12:30 p.m. in USF Davis Hall 102.
