Likely when you connect Tarpon Springs with a foreign country only one comes to mind, but for a change of pace come to the library at 1 p.m. today as the Tarpon Springs Cinema Guild presents A Passage to India. The award-winning film, hosted by Sam and Cathy Tsoutsanis, is based on the modern classic novel by E. M. Forster about the complex relationship between the British colonials and the Indian people, over whom they ruled in the 1920s. It was directed by David Lean. Reservations are requested. Learn safe boating from the experts
The Coast Guard Auxiliary has safe-boating classes coming up.A one-day course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is scheduled for Saturday and Nov. 8. Cost is $35. The second meets from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and begins Tuesday. Cost is $50. Classes are in the old Pappas restaurant building at Alternate U.S. 19 and Dodecanese Boulevard.
