TUNED IN TO THE RAYS

Published Oct. 23, 2008

Here comes the bandwagon - with the emphasis on the word "band." With the Tampa Bay Rays in their first World Series, songs praising the hometown boys are popping up everywhere. Just hit YouTube.com and search for Tampa Bay Rays. Here's a quick rundown of tribute songs we've heard lately.

'It's All Up to You' - Kevin Costner and Modern West

"Crash Davis" loves his baseball cliches ("You got to swing for the fence."), but Costner, shown here performing at Straub Park in St. Petersburg, has been on board as a Rays fan since his band helped introduce the team's new uniforms in 2007.

'Go Rays' - Kevin K.

It's Weezer meets Cheap Trick, with the obligatory cowbell banging between verses. "Carl Crawford, he's on third base. With a smile on his face. He's gonna steal home, standing tall. But B.J. Upton knocks it over the wall." Cheesy, contagious fun.

'It's Our Season' Bay Boi, Big Gill and Cristol

"Let me give a hand clap for the Tampa Bay Rays." This is the rap song we want to hear blaring from every car radio in town when the Rays bring home the trophy.

'Trop Boys' Orlando and Acafool

So polished and overproduced, you'd think Timbaland must be a closet Rays fan.

'Feel the Heat Rays' Darren Moore

The officially commissioned song for the team was written by Darren Moore and was playing nonstop after the Game 7 victory over the Red Sox. Loud, rockin' and sure to get the Trop poppin'.

'Talk of the Town' Che$co

A hip-hop love song to Tropicana Field ... to the tricked-out tune of a ballpark organ.
