Students at the South County Career Center will benefit from a $75,000 grant that will help them pay for certification exams, special tools and other items to complete their coursework.
The grant came from the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and is part of a program called Project Success, aimed at preventing drop-outs.
The money helps buy things such asequipment for the Automotive Technology class and power tools for the Building Construction Program. The funds also will be used to help pay for certification exams and full scholarships to Hillsborough Community College or Erwin, Brewster or Aparacio-Levy technical centers.
The South County Career Center offers high school students training in several career fields, including health care, culinary arts and technology.
Festival ticket sale
Advance tickets are on sale for Nativity Catholic School's annual NovemberFest.
Buying early saves $6 per sheet of ride tickets and $1 per sheet of food tickets.
Tickets can be purchased from any Nativity student.
The festival of midway rides, food and drink booths and entertainment takes place from Nov. 12-16 on the church and school grounds at 705 E Brandon Blvd.
