TAG LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

A suspicious license plate led deputies to pull over a red Saturn sedan on Wednesday evening at Old Lakeland Highway and Stewart Road. In the trunk, they found more than 85 pounds of marijuana, intended, they think, for delivery in Dade City. Packaged in plastic-wrapped bundles weighing 10 pounds each, the drugs have a street value of as much as $127,500, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Saturn driver, a 29-year-old Jose Juan Carlos Castro-Ramirez of Lacoochee, was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. Castro-Ramirez, a Mexican citizen, also has a federal immigration hold on him.
