When talk about the size of running back Derek Johnson comes up, Bloomingdale coach Jason Stokes will tell you Johnson's heart is huge.
With three touchdowns, the 5-foot-7, 155-pound Johnson eclipsed his season total and gained 192 yards in a District 5A-7 win for the Bulls (4-2, 2-0) over East Bay (1-2, 3-4).
On the Indians' second drive, Chaz Burrows gained 49 yards and five first downs, but East Bay stalled at the 3-yard line and had a 20-yard field goal blocked.
On the ensuing drive, Johnson broke free on a 68-yard run. He added a 14-yarder before halftime.
After the Indians recovered a fumble on the second-half kickoff, Andre Simpson scored on a 12-yard run. But the Bulls answered with two scores - a 2-yard run from Wali Efunnuge and a 35-yarder by Johnson.
