Berkeley Prep faced district rival Cardinal Mooney on the road and seemed to be on the verge of victory and a playoff spot with a little over three minutes left in a tie game.
But a fumble by the Buccaneers at the Cardinal Mooney 33-yard line gave the Cougars the ball back and allowed them to use nearly all of the remaining time to drive 67 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Mooney (5-3, 1-1) stayed in playoff contention and Berkeley Prep (4-3, 1-1) most likely needs a win against Frostproof in two weeks to keep playoff hopes alive.
The Buccaneers led 28-21 early in the second half after forcing a three and out. Julian Crockett had 31 yards in the drive after being limited to 21 yards in the first half.
Berkeley Prep was again moving the ball well until the fumble that set up Mooney's winning TD.
