With each play, Tarpon Springs and Ridgewood awaited a back-breaking play that could give either an edge.
Advantage: Tarpon Springs.
Running back Danny Chaisson broke free and sprinted into the end zone to give the Spongers a 14-3 lead early in the fourth.
Quarterback Danny Reyes would add a touchdown pass as the Spongers (5-2, 2-1) held off the Rams (3-4, 1-2).
"We did good tonight, I think we did well rebounding, and next week we should do better," said Reyes, who went 18-of-36 for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
Tarpon Springs scored first after a 14-play, 80-yard drive that ended on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Reyes to receiver Bobby Vavlas.
The Spongers stifled the Rams' power running attack, holding Ridgewood running back Sterling Ross to 81 yards on 21 carries.
