City Manager Bruce Haddock and City Council member Janice Miller have been named finalists for awards by the Florida League of Cities. Haddock is among five finalists for the league's City Manager of the Year. Miller is among five finalists for City Council Member of the Year. The winners will be announced at a luncheon Nov. 21 in Orlando.
Author to discuss best-selling book

Humane Society's 'Fred McCool Day'
The Humane Society of Pinellas is inviting the public to an open house for one of its own. "Fred McCool Day," devoted to McCool, a 20-year employee who has served as an ambulance service driver and Humane Society officer, will take place from 1-5 p.m., Thursday at the Humane Society of Pinellas , 3040 State Road 590, Clearwater. Barkoween party is for pets and pals
The Barkoween Pet Costume Party is for dogs and their human counterparts Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Belleview Biltmore, 25 Belleview Blvd., in Clearwater. The night starts with a costume contest.
