Largo city commissioners have approved a law that bans solicitors, including newspaper vendors, from medians and roadways.
City leaders say they did so because they were concerned about the safety of vendors and motorists.
The ordinance also prohibits the sale of goods on sidewalks, but includes an exception for newspapers. The ban exempts nonprofit organizations, such as firefighters conducting charitable drives, if they adhere to state guidelines.
The ban was approved by a 5-1 vote last week.
