With Halloween lurking, here are scary books for kids and grownups.

You Read to Me, I'll Read to You: Very Short Scary Tales to Read Together (Little, Brown) by Mary Ann Hoberman, illustrated by Michael Emberly, has just slightly scary stories for little ones, color coded for team reading.

The Graveyard Book (HarperCollins) by Neil Gaiman is a marvelous tale by a master of fantasy for kids ages 9 to 12 about Nobody Owens, a living boy being raised by ghosts.

The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 19 (Running Press), edited by Stephen Jones, will keep adult readers up late with a couple of dozen creepy stories by aces like Joe Hill, Ramsey Campbell and Neil Gaiman (again).
