CAR FIRE CLOSES I-75 LANE, BUT NO ONE IS INJURED

DARBY

The outside lane of Interstate 75, just north of State Road 52, was closed for about 21/2 hours Monday morning after a car caught on fire, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. Brenda A. Perry, 19, of Huntsville, Ala., was driving her 1993 Toyota Camry north when she heard a loud sound and saw fire coming from her vehicle, FHP said. She abruptly stopped in the outside lane about 8:15 a.m. and got out as her car became engulfed in flames. The vehicle burned, but no one was injured. Pasco County Fire Rescue determined the fire was caused by a mechanical failure.
