The deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you is 5 p.m. Wednesday. Any voter may request an absentee ballot; no special reason is required. Requests may be in person at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville; or 7443 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. By phone, call (352) 754-4125. Faxed requests must have the voter's name, signature, date of birth, address, phone number, home address, address where ballot is to be mailed and election voter is requesting the ballot for. By e-mail, send to email@example.com (include same information as a fax, except for the signature). Requests may also be done on the Web site, www.hernandovotes.com.
Marine Corps ball takes place Nov. 10
Saturday is the deadline to buy tickets to the 233rd U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Ball, which will be on Nov. 10 at Heritage Pines Country Club, 11524 Scenic Hills Blvd., off County Line Road, just south of Spring Hill. Cocktail hour will be at 5 p.m. followed by the ceremony and dinner at 7. The speaker will be national Senior Vice Commandant Vic Voltaggio. The event is hosted by Marine Corps League, Spring Hill Detachment 708. Tickets are $35. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Free tickets available for Arts Guild concerts
Free tickets for the first two concerts of the Community Performing Arts Guild season will be distributed from 9 a.m. to noon today at Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd. Sweet Dreams of Patsy Cline, starring Leanne Williams, will be Nov. 15; and Bay Street Brassworks will be Dec. 6. The Hernando County Business and Professional Women will host a candidates' forum at 6 p.m. today at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, off Commercial Way.
