OBITUARIES

ALLMAN, William Dominic Jr. 86, of Seminole, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Patricia Allman; daughter Dr. Mary Jo Brubaker and son-in-law Rev. Daniel L. Brubaker of North Carolina; daughter Dr. Anne Allman of Missouri; and son Michael J. Allman and daughter-in-law Kathleen Allman of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Patricia Vir, Daniel A. Brubaker, Matthew Allman, and Emily Allman; and two great-grand-children, Ajay and Dhruv Vir. Bill was born in Washington, DC and graduated from Anacostia High School, George Washington University, and Maryland University and continued his education at Florida State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in China to establish weather patterns for that country during WWII. Bill retired in 1986 after a 30 year career in public education, first at the old Largo Junior Senior High School and later at Seminole Senior High School. He was known as the counselor who always wore bow ties. For 16 years Bill and his wife owned Hen House Antiques. A long time resident of Seminole, Bill loved everything the Suncoast has to offer: fishing, the Gulf, birding, tennis, the public library system, smart bridge players, the county parks, good friends, and the St. Pete Times. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to Bay Pines VAHCS Hospice or the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. Visitation is Sunday Nov. 2 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home. ANGERS, Arthur Joseph 64, of Clearwater, passed away Oct. 30, 2008, at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born June 17, 1944, in Schenectady, NY and moved to Clearwater in 1982. He graduated from Ithaca, College, Ithaca, NY. He was a musician and music teacher and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo. He is predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Benjamin Angers, and a sister, Laura Angers Doin. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Maylisa I.; a son, Patrick (Regina) Angers of Glendale, Arizona; 2 brothers, Benjamin R. (Marilyn) Angers of Scotia, NY and Leonard (Louise) Angers of Schenectady; a sister-in-law, Melanie I. Dooley of Fairfax, VA; brother-in-law, E. SHERWIN, Vera G. beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother passed away in St. Petersburg in her 96th year on Oct. 30, 2008, after a long struggle with cancer. Mrs. Sherwin was a long time resident of Cleveland and University Heights until she retired with her late husband Louis to St. Petersburg. Vera was well known as a devoted, tireless volunteer in the many organizations she served. She was devoted as well to her congregation, Park Synagogue in Cleveland, as a hard working sisterhood member. Vera was a devoted supporter of Zionist causes including Israel Bond drives. In 1970, her efforts were ultimately rewarded with recognition as "Woman of Valor." In 1975, she was honored as Grandmother of the Year by Park Synagogue Sisterhood. Her contributions to her community were just as noteworthy. In 1982, the city of University Heights and its Mayor Beryl Rothschild, recognized her as its Citizen of the Year. Mrs. Sherwin is survived by her sons and their spouses Kenneth and Felice of Fort Worth, TX, Gerald and Pamela of St. Petersburg; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. SHOEMAKER, Betty Ann born on Dec. 31st, 1926, in Washington, DC, died Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2008, in Dublin OH. Originally from Bethesda, MD, attended Bethesda Chevy Chase H.S. Worked as a grants clerk for NIH, retiring in 1977. Married Donald Shoemaker 1946. They resided in Oldsmar, until Don died in 2003. She then moved to Ohio in 2004. Daughter of Vivian T. deceased and Margaret E. Middleton, who is 101 years old. Survived by her sons, Bruce, Ted and Rob; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister; a brother and a half-brother and their families. She loved animals, golf, playing cards, and ice cream. She will be greatly missed.

WILLIAMS, Norman A. 66, of Hudson, formerly of Fleetwood, PA, born in New York, NY, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Beverly S. Williams; his son, Keith N. He is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Gregoire, of Indiantown, FL.
