Plant won its Class 5A, District 10 final with a dominant performance over Leto on Thursday, sweeping 25-8, 25-4, 25-7.
"We've got a balanced offense right now," coach Leanna Taylor said. "We were nursing some injuries for a while but now that we've got our health back and we have all of our weapons out there, our setter has a lot of tools at her disposal."
A 10-point run after trailing in the early part of the first game was the difference as the Panthers scored points in small increments after the run.
The second and third games followed suit with the Panthers putting together 13-point and 10-point runs, respectively. Leto found a dig here and there but struggled to string any of its points together.
Setter Becca Howard gave the Panthers opportunities for kills throughout, finishing with 37 assists. Danielle Erb added 13 kills, 10 aces and 11 digs. Maddie Martin, injured during the first half of the season, finished with five aces and 10 kills.
"It's a good way to start the postseason," Taylor said. "We're still making some mistakes but we'll clean it up each time. The important thing is that we stayed focused."
