Tampa Prep didn't look like a sub.-500 team as it swept Indian Rocks Christian 25-14, 30-28, 25-21 in the district championship.
The Terrapins (12-13) won their second district title in four years after losing the past two championship games to the Eagles, in four games in 2006 and five games in 2007.
Indian Rocks (20-7) didn't win any of its three meetings with the Terrapins in 2008.
Tampa Prep dominated in the first game as the Eagles "faltered on defense," according to Indian Rocks coach Mark Foster.
The second set was the turning point, as the Eagles rallied from 24-20 down to take a 25-24 lead.
The Terrapins hung tough and kept their cool after squandering seven game points during that set, eventually capitalizing on their eighth opportunity.
"The tough schedule we had this year helped us stay cool because we had been in this kind of situation before," Tampa Prep coach Mike Flynn said. "We were like Rocky tonight, falling down and getting back up again every time."
Tampa Prep had 11 of its 19 kills during the second game, led by senior Elena Ransom with seven in the match.
