Visitors at Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach saw dozens of manatees Friday. The warm water from the power station draws in the manatees, which need water above 72 degrees to survive. The water in Tampa Bay has dropped below 68, so the manatees, such as the one at right poking its nose above the water, are becoming more abundant near the station. The viewing center is free and open every day 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until April 15. For information, go towww.tampaelectric.com/manatee/.
