LYONS, Edwin A. was born on Nov. 25, 1924 in Duluth, MN and passed away on Feb. 24, 2009 in Largo. He devoted his entire life to his family, church, friends, and anyone who needed a helping hand. Ed was the definition of a #1 Dad. He has three daughters, Karen (Chuck) Polansky, Diane Larson, and Debbie (Tim) Slofkin, who love him so much. But Ed's family doesn't stop there; he has 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was an active member at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, where he was an usher there for many decades. Ed was also affiliated with the Legion of Mary, Hospice, Junior Achievement Mentors, Minreg for Honeywell Retirees, and the list goes on and on. Ed retired from Honeywell as an Electrical Engineer after 40 great years. This man was always on the go, from taking care of his grandkids to bringing homebound people the Eucharist. Even though we miss him dearly, he is now walking in heaven side by side with his beloved wife, Helen, and his two grandchildren, Kris and Missy. These years until we meet again may feel like forever, but we will have all of eternity to spend together once we all are reunited again. To Ed, these years may only feel like a brief nap or even a blink of an eye. This may feel like an ending, but really his journey has just begun. When one door closes, another one has opened. I wonder what is on the other side of the door? He didn't say goodbye because he knew that he would see us all again. We cannot wait to see you Pop Pop. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 1st at 3-5 pm, at Serenity Gardens Funeral Home. It is located on 13401 Indian Rocks Road in Largo.
