As a Ray, Rocco Baldelli would try hard at times to not say anything too interesting, though he usually knew what reporters were looking for. That's obviously still the case based on his answer Saturday when Boston writers asked him if it was special to homer against the Rays.
"Not really, to be honest with you," he said. "I get excited to hit a home run against anybody. It's not really anything special doing it against these guys. Maybe you'd like me to say it is special, so you can write a little blurb about it. It's not really."

Manager Joe Maddon, a Hazleton native, will be honored at the Pennsylvania state capital Tuesday afternoon, presented with a special resolution by House speaker Keith McCall and Majority Leader Todd A. Eachus saluting his 2008 success. "It's quite an honor to be recognized by your home state," Maddon said. His mom, Beanie, and other relatives will attend.
