ARGUELLES, Abdelia "Adella" Age 94, born and raised in Tampa, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcelino Sr. and her son, Marcelino Jr.; brothers, Raleigh and Frank Suarez and her sister, Mary Baldwin. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Suarez, and her nieces and nephews. Adella graduated from Hillsborough High School and attended Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University). She was self-employed from 1941-1954 as a physiotherapist and master cosmetologist before entering the real estate field. Between 1954 and 1984, she was involved in the real estate field. She was the President of the Jose Suarez & Sons Real Estate Co. and Executive Vice President of Suarez Brothers Construction Co. With Suarez Brothers, she also served as Sales Manager, Interior Decorator and Public Relations Director for the company. During her real estate career, she was twice awarded a diamond pin by the National Home Builder's Association, leading the state in sales of new homes for 1968 and 1969. Her most cherished award was from the America Home Magazine for her first home designed and decorated, which received the citation "The Best Home for the Money" (1958). She won a coveted award from the National Association of Real Estate Boards for her article on "Best Selling Procedures" at which time she was their guest speaker at their National Convention in Chicago, May 1971. She was listed in "Who's Who of Business and Professional Men and Women of the South and Southwest" (1965 & 1966); "Who's Who of American Women" (1966 1967) and "Florida Lives of the Sunshine State Who's Who" (1966). She was president of the Tampa Cosmetologist Association, Secretary for the Florida Cosmetologist Association, Editor of "The Short Wave" for the Cosmetologist Association, President and Charter Member of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Tampa, President and Charter Member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of American Business Women Association (ABWA) and served on many committees for the Association. She compiled and published two editions of ABWA's own cook book, "The Goumet's Delight," which proved very successful for the organization. She was elected President of the Pilot Club of Ybor City five times and served on the Board of the Parkland Condominium Association. She was awarded "Woman of the Year" by ABWA (1960 1961) and the Pilot Club of Ybor City (1967 1968). In 1968, the Suncoast Chapter of ABWA selected her as on of the "Ten Best Dressed Career Women in Tampa." She represented the best of her culture and community when she was honored at the Celebration of "The Hispanic Woman" in 1987. Her motto was "Each of us has a natural talent, whether it be in the fine arts, business or in the art of homemaking. We all have some special ability that distinguishes us as individuals. When we use this special talent to help other people, we are giving something of ourselves." Adella never knew the meaning of the word "no." She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park, located at 5400 E. Martin Luther King, on Friday, June 5, 2009, at 10 am. Pallbearers will be Jack Suarez, Robert Suarez, Scott Suarez, Casey Hernandez, Robert Fernandez and James Baldwin. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Suarez, Frank Vacanti, Bob Durgen, Barry Pitts and Scott Johnson and very special friends, Elva Garcia, Daniel and Blanche de la Cruz, Rose Silva, Dorinda Rodriguez, Anna Noya, Carolyn Duke, Rossi Ramos, Catherine Gillen, Mattie White, Mary Mortellaro, Carmela Bacarella, Mark Cowherd, Cecelia and the rest of the Demetree Family. ARONSON, Milton H. A resident of St. Pete Beach, and formerly of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Milton died May 29, 2009 at age 90. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cecily; his daughter, Nancy Gold and husband, David of Sarasota; and his son Robert Aronson, of Largo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carolyn Gold Aberman, Andrew Gold, and Roger Gold; and great- grandchildren Leah, Aidan and Carly Aberman. His brothers Sanford "Babe" and Alvin Aronson predeceased him. Mr. Aronson graduated Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in physics. After serving as Editor-in-Chief of Rimbach Publishing, he founded Measurements & Data Corporation in Pittsburgh. He successfully published for decades two national technical journals on calibration and instrumentation for industry & medicine. Among his innovations was the inclusion in each bi-monthly issue of continuing education courses he prepared. He wrote books, lectured widely & was published often. A voracious reader, his passions were politics, history & education. During WWII, he served in the Navy doing developmental work with torpedoes and mine detection in Washington, D.C. Interment was private.

BYERS, Dr. Frank M. A widely known and respected thoracic/vascular surgeon in St. Petersburg, died at home on June 2, 2009. Born in Bridgeport, CT in 1933, he moved to Florida with his parents and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1951. He received his medical degree from Duke University, where he was elected to the medical honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha. He was a surgical intern and resident at Duke University Hospital, and was subsequently a cardiothoracic surgical resident at the University of Florida. Dr. Byers opened his private surgical practice in St. Petersburg in 1960, from which he retired in 1998. He held the offices of Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery in the early 1990's at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Memberships included American College of Surgeons, International Society of Cardiovascular Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and Southern Thoracic Surgical Association. He was an avid boater throughout his adult life, and was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Upon retirement, he continued his boating, made good use of his golf membership at St. Petersburg Country Club, and renewed his teenage fondness for motorcycles in the form of a Honda Gold Wing. He joined his local chapter of the Honda Gold Wing Road Riders Association and enjoyed all the group's activities and camaraderie with his fellow bikers. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009, 6 pm-8 pm, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street North, St. Petersburg. McDEVITT, Iris Garvey "Doll" 87, passed away May 3rd at The Gardens of Dunedin. Doll was born and raised in Vicksburg, MS, the daughter of Joseph and Hallie Garvey. She was a 1943 graduate of Webster College (now Webster University) and a member of the 1942/1943 Who's Who of American College Students. Doll and her husband, Jim, moved to Dunedin in 1958 and lived there until 1979 when they moved to Sapphire Valley, North Carolina. After Jim's death in 2003, Doll returned to Dunedin each winter as a part-time resident at her beloved home-away-from-home at the Seaside Artisan Motel. She will be remembered for her endearing smile, sweet nature and lovely Mississippi accent. Doll will be missed by her family and her many loving friends in Dunedin and Sapphire Valley. RICCIARDELLI, Ida N. (Hetrick) was born Aug. 13, 1918, in Washington, D.C. As a young adult she worked in New York City and during WWII she worked in the Kaiser Shipyards in San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph M. Logan in 1965 and by Robert Ricciardelli in 1992. Ida is survived by sons Joseph M. Logan Jr., James M. Logan and daughter Virginia M. ROBERTS, Jeanne A. 86, of Largo, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at home. Jeanne was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved here in 1948 with her husband Jerry who died in 1997. SKAGGS, Bonita Ann Of Tarpon Springs, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009. Bonnie was born in Brownsville, PA. She graduated from California Area High School, and attended California University Pennsylvania. Bonnie resided in the Detroit area as well as the Northwest Indiana area. Bonnie dedicated her career to non-profit organizations which benefitted disabled with many needs. On May 14, 1983, while in Northwest Indiana, Bonnie (Crockett) married Ron Skaggs. Bonnie and Ron moved to Tarpon Springs, from Indiana in 1989. Bonnie began her employment in Florida at Suncoast Epilepsy Association in St. Petersburg from 1990 until her retirement. She was the Executive Director for SEA. Bonnie was involved with Leadership Pinellas, FESPA, Clearwater Civitan and The Boggy Creek Gang. Bonnie attended St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dunedin when she was able. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Barbara (Lacotta) Crockett. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 26 years, Ronald Skaggs; one brother Thomas and Karen Crockett of Tampa; two sisters Kathy and Joe Grooms and Donna and Parke Bongiorno both of California, Pennsylvania and one sister-in-law Pam and Chuck Whitaker of Lakeville, IN. She is also survived by her in-laws, William and Phyllis Skaggs of Tarpon Springs. She also had 9 nieces and nephews, Tobi and Don Lacey, Karli and Frank Grillo, Shane and Nicole Grooms, Amber Borgiorno, Seth Grooms, Kami Grooms, Parker Bongiorno, Molly Whitaker and Justin Whitaker. She also had 4 great-nieces and nephews, Jorri Grillo, Mason Grillo, Colton Lacey and Maddy Lacey. A celebration of life service will be Sunday, June 7, 2009, from 4-6 pm at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 2550 Highlands Boulevard North, Palm Harbor. SMITH, Carlton E. Jr. 81, of New Port Richey, went to heaven on May 26, 2009, at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice, New Port Richey. Carlton is survived by his wife Jean Stillman Smith; 2 sons, Carlton E. Smith III, of New Port Richey and Warren H. (Anistacia) Smith of Tampa; 2 grandsons, Adam (Heather) Smith of Orlando and Dana Smith of California. Carlton is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Ainsley & Christian and a brother, Ralph H. Smith of Wilmington, DE. SMITH, Dr. Elwyn 89. Born 9/17/19, Wilmington DE; died 6/3/09, Dunedin FL. Son of Harry F. and Mary C. Smith. Preceded in death by Malvine "Molly" Maguire, his wife of 55 years and Suzanne Robson, his wife of 3 years. Educated at Harvard, Princeton and Yale, Elwyn's professions included teaching, college administration, writing and the ministry. Most recently, the Parish Assoc.. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clearwater. Survived by his sister, Ethel C. Smith; his children, Paul, Becky and Scott and their families. A memorial service will be held 6/7/09 at 2pm at Trinity and the family requests that contributions be made to the church.

WARFIELD, Helen W. 87, died peacefully at home on June 1, 2009. Born in Augusta, GA, she relocated to the area in 1989, from Miami, where she resided for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years,Frank M. Warfield and a son, Stephen Warfield. She is survived by her daughters Beverly W. Martin and Wendy W. Moss; grandchildren Melinda Sutton, Steven Hurley, Matthew and Mark Moss; 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. WILLIAMS, Bessie A. 97, of Seminole, passed away June 2, 2009. Moved to Florida from Pittsburgh in 1977. Was a loyal and devoted member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church. Predeceased by her first husband of 62 years, Bill and later married dear friend Forrest Williams and resided at Freedom Square for 9 years. Was under the loving care of Hospice and the Staff at Freedom Square Inn. Survived by devoted husband Forrest; son Bill; and 3 grandchildren.
