WHAT ARE THE EAGLES DOING?
Hoping youth pays off. Thanks to a rash of injuries in 2008, Brandon started 13 or so freshmen and sophomores. Those kids got a year jump start on their careers, but are they ready?
What they're saying about the Eagles
Coach John Lima "This team is made up of guys who have a 5-foot-8 type of mentality. They don't care who they play, they just want to compete."
East Bay coach Brian Thornton "They always seem to have athletic kids. They can be very unpredictable.
WR Sean Watson "Coming off a 2-8 season, we need to get our minds right. We have to step it up."
Friday Night Rewind The Eagles' record will improve, if for no other reason than they can't possibly be snake bitten by injuries two years in a row.

A few Eagles we'll be following on Fridays
WR Sean Watson The senior's work ethic and all-out level of play are his strengths. Lima said Watson "has a psychological advantage over everyone when he steps on the field."
LB Shawn Council The junior might be slightly undersized for a linebacker at 5-7, but he's a hard-nosed tackler who will be key against the run.
TE/DE Travis Green The senior, who also plays for the basketball team, has all the physical tools. If he can get football ready, Green can be a force.
The Seans Watson and Council do it all on special teams. Council is the long snapper and plays on every special team while Watson handles kickoff and punt return duties.

Why the Eagles will make the playoffs
Eagles keep their moxie. A lot of the young players that took lumps last year have a season under their belt now and are hungry.
Why the Eagles may not make the playoffs
They can't close games. Five of the Eagles' eight losses were by 10 points or fewer.
