ARMWOOD 48, NEWSOME 6

Armwood quarterback Josh Grady had different perspective from underneath his helmet Friday night.

"I'll tell you what," he said. "It felt good to be on the this side of an Armwood beating for a change."

Grady, a Freedom transfer, tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another as the Hawks rolled against Newsome.

Operating in soggy conditions, Grady (6-of-9, 128 yards) led the Hawks to touchdown drives on all six of their first-half possessions. The junior punched in a 1-yard touchdown to open the scoring then connected on passes of 11 and 26 yards to Richard Jules.

Matt Jones and Rayshied Melvin each had touchdown runs of 2 yards while Sherman Jessie ran for two more.

The Hawks didn't let Newsome cross midfield until 5:15 remained in the third quarter.
