Berkeley Prep recovered a fumble inside its own 10-yard line with less than a minute to play to nip St. Petersburg Catholic.
"It took us a half to figure out who we are," Barons coach Tod Creneti said.
Both offenses struggled to open the game. The Bucs recovered a muffed punt at the Barons' 14 and scored three plays later. With a 12-0 lead and after forcing another three-and-out, Nelson Agholor returned a punt to the Barons' 15. Nichols again found Hardegree for an 18-0 lead.
But the Barons cut the lead to 25-18. With the Bucs trying to run out the clock, Agholor was stripped and Keelyan Bryant returned the fumble 65 yards. The point after was no good. The Barons recovered an onside kick but fumbled with 4.3 seconds to play.
