Jamar Burns and Charlie Waits each had touchdown runs, Dominic Addison returned a fumble for a touchdown, and Spoto shut out host Wharton in each team's season opener.
Spoto got on the board late in the first quarter when quarterback James Brown scrambled from a pass rush and threw across his body to Victor Moore for a 2-yard touchdown reception. Brown finished 6-for-11 passing and also had a 44 yard run.
In the second quarter, Burns brook loose for a 56-yard touchdown run to give Spoto a two-touchdown lead at halftime.
Spoto built a three-touchdown lead in the third quarter on Waits' 15-yard touchdown run. On Wharton's following possession, quarterback Ryan Hatter threw a backward pass that was picked up by Addison and returned for a touchdown, making it 28-0.
