TAMPA CATHOLIC 28, GROVELAND SOUTH LAKE 14

Crusaders running back Hank McCloud ran for 216 yards and scored two touchdowns - one rushing and one receiving - as Tampa Catholic won its season opener on the road.

Tampa Catholic ran out to a 14-0 halftime lead, scoring both touchdowns off South Lake turnovers. The Crusaders capitalized on a Jeremi Wilkes interception with a Hunter Joyer 1-yard touchdown run and Maronte Gilbert scored on a 5-yard pass from Christian Green after the Crusaders recovered a fumble.

The Crusaders totaled 290 yards on the ground.

King 28, Blake 12: The Lions opened up their spread offense, running out to a 28-6 lead on the overwhelmed Yellow Jackets thanks to a 14-0 third quarter.

"We didn't try to do anything too fancy," King coach Alvin Davis said. "We just played our spread offense and it worked out well for us. We stepped up to the call, but we still have a long way to go."
