The Wade family - six sisters and one brother - had a family reunion July 5 and 6 at the home of Jean and Jack Tallent of Hudson.
The Wades made Florida part of their family history from the 1920s to the 1940s. Children Eunice and James were born in St. Petersburg. Not long after, the family of four, including parents Otis and Ella Wade, moved to Island Grove, north of Ocala, where four more daughters were born.
The children, from oldest to youngest, areEunice Jarboe-Wade of Everett, Wash.; James "Buddy" Wade of Largo; Joan Ward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Helen Meier of Spring Hill; Jean Orris Tallent of Hudson; Jeri Cox of Lakeland, and Shirley Arnett of Spring Hill.
Living in Island Grove, the family became friends and neighbors of famous Florida author and socialite Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings of nearby Cross Creek. They remained in Central Florida until World War II.
Eunice Jarboe-Wade, now 81, was accompanied to the reunion from Washington by her son Tim Jarboe and his wife, Debbie.
