An Air Force member assigned to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa died in Iraq on Tuesday, a spokeswoman confirmed. Lt. Rebecca Heyse said she couldn't release the name, but said the person died of injuries sustained by an improvised explosive device outside Baghdad. Heyse said more details would come from the Defense Department. The Associated Press was reporting late Tuesday morning that four Americans had been killed in two attacks.

Look NW for shuttle, station
Tampa Bay residents will have a chance tonight to look up into the sky and see the space shuttle Discovery fly overhead. It will be followed by the International Space Station, which is carrying Nicole Passonno Stott, an astronaut who grew up in Clearwater. The shuttle and station will be small, comparable to two bright stars. First the shuttle will pass by, at about 9:08 p.m. A second later, the station will follow. It will be possible to see both in the northwest sky, about 20 degrees up from the horizon. But to do so, you need a viewing site where the view to the northwest is not cluttered by trees or buildings. For more information, go to links.tampabay.com and click on the NASA link.

A new wrinkle for Botox Bandit
The Botox Bandit has landed back in jail this week after a probation officer said she inflated her restitution record. Jaimie Merk, 32, got the nickname after stealing services and products from a med spa. On probation until 2012, she reported making payments on more than $1,000 in restitution. Not so, wrote probation officer Shawn Kennedy. "She continuously lies on her written monthly reports," he wrote. Merk is being held at the Pinellas County Jail.
