ARMSTRONG, Elijah D. Jr. (E.D.) 84, of Clearwater, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. He was born in Beckley, WV and moved to Clearwater in 1961, from Houston, TX. He was a retired stockbroker, a veteran having served with the U.S. Naval Air Corps and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Duke University. He is survived by a son, E.D. (Ed) Armstrong III (Tara) of Dunedin; a granddaughter, Lexa and a sister, Catherine Hargreaves of Pisgah Forest, NC. BUSSELL, Brian N. Age 54, CEO and President of Anchor Glass Container Corp. passed away at his vacation home in Big Canoe, GA of a heart attack on Sept. 5, 2009. He was born Dec. 17, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Gerard J. and Marie J. Timoney Bussell. He attended St. Mary Our Mother Grade School in Horseheads, NY and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Elmira, NY, in 1972. Brian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY in 1976. He began his professional career in operations at the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in Horseheads, in 1976. He held positions of increasing management responsibility at Cheseborough Ponds, BIC Pen, Pepsi, Shasta, and Coca-Cola Enterprises. In December of 2006, Brian retired from Coca-Cola Enterprises as the Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain Management for North America after over 20 years of dedicated service. That same year, Brian was named CEO and President of Anchor Glass Container Corp. Under Brian's leadership, Anchor Glass became a healthy, productive, and successful organization. He was a very generous and caring person, who mentored and coached a large number of leaders throughout his career. On May 15, 1979 Brian married Sandy Burr in New Orleans, LA. The couple resided in both Tampa, and Big Canoe, GA. The center of Brian's life was his loving wife Sandy and his three beautiful daughters. Sandy and Brian just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in May of this year. Brian is survived by his wife Sandy; his daughters Katie, Kelley, and Kristen; his brothers Jerry and Paul; his sisters-in-law Mary, Susan, Bobbi, Diane, and Jan; his brothers-in-law Chris and Doug; his nieces Mary Jane, Laura, Diana, Jami and Brianne; his nephews James, Craig, Sean, and Kyle. DUCKER, Mary Agnes 92, of St Petersburg, passed away peacefully in her room at Bon Secours Maria Manor surrounded by her family, friends and staff Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. Mary was born on April 14, 1917 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY and lived most of her life in Queens, NY. Known as Aunt Mae to her family, she spent her life devoted to her mother, her 3 sisters, her 13 nieces and nephews and all of their extended families. She worked for over 40 years for Bethlehem Steel as a bookkeeper, payroll secretary and executive secretary. She retired in 1980 and moved to St Petersburg. Mary's hobby was ballroom dancing and listening to and singing old songs. She not only danced for fun, but also did dance competitions. Her last competition was in 2000 in Paris, France. While she was there she left the group, took a train on her own and visited Lourdes. The French were wonderful to Mary and helped her find her way to Lourdes and back to Paris. She brought home plenty of Lourdes holy water for her family and friends. Mary loved to party, stay up late and have good conversation, but she can be best defined by her faith in God, and her devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary, St Anthony and St Francis. She was a very caring, generous person with a contagious laugh. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Mitchell, Julia Ryan and Anastasia Russell. She is survived by her 13 nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. EMMERT, Hoaward E. "Herky", 81 of Clearwater went home to be with the Lord, September 4, 2009. He served in the US Namy and retired as a finish carpenter and a member of the local Carpenter's Unions, Youngstown, Ohio and Clearwater, Florida. He was greatly admired for his craftsmanship. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Woodlawn/Harvest Temple Church of God where he was recognized for his workmanship on the church buildings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl D. and Rowena Roach Emmert and a sister, Kathryn Williams. HENRY, Dr. Richard 83, of Inglis, FL, died Sept. 7, 2009. Born in Rochester, MI on May 19, 1926, he graduated from the University of Florida in 1948 and received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He chose Brooksville in rural Hernando County to begin his medical practice in 1953. He was Chief of Staff at Lykes Memorial Hospital when it achieved accreditation in 1968. In 1970, he joined the faculty of the University of Florida College of Medicine where he initiated the Physician's Assistant Program and served as its first Director from 1972-1975. He initiated and directed the rural health clinic at Trenton, FL, served as Associate Chairman of the Department of Community Health and Family Practice and was Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Florida. The Senior Class of the University of Florida Medical School presented him with their Outstanding Teacher Award in 1971. In 1977, he returned to his farm to resume his family practice and later served as Chairman of the Florida State Nursing Home Ombudsman Committee. He retired in 1990, to sail, read and garden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Patrick and Nora Stoddard Henry and his brothers, Daniel, Robert, Dennis and Bernard. He is survived by his wife, Mary and by his daughters, Noel, Allie and Erin; son Michael; grandchildren, Skip Ragan, Ryan Ragan, Robert Hueter, Duane Henry Schalow, Tasman Henry and Kepler Henry and great-grandchildren, Aidan Ragan and Isabella Rose Ragan. His love of the sea, his love of the land, his love of books, his love of science and medicine, and the love of his family were the hallmarks of his life. KAHELIN, Mary 95, of New Port Richey, died Sept. 7, 2009. She was born on Long Island, NY, and moved to Florida during the 1950's. She and her husband Richard Kahelin Sr., owned and operated the Stardale Dairy in Dover for many years. She had been a proud member of Westpac, membership consisting of delegates from civic associations throughout west Pasco County, and a long time member of the West Pasco Republican Club.
