TRANSIENT ACCUSED IN TWO ATTACKS WITH KNIFE

The man faces an attempted murder charge after two men in Tarpon are wounded.

A 56-year-old transient was arrested early Tuesday after Tarpon Springs police say he attacked two men with a steak knife.

Willie James Reed was charged with attempted murder in the first degree after police said he attempted to kill Shawn Bullock, 40, with the 4-inch blade about 3 a.m.

According to a police report, Reed attacked Bullock as he was urinating on the side of a building at 321 N Ring Village, inflicting a superficial wound on the left side of his neck. It is unclear what prompted the attack.

Bullock, who is handicapped, made his way to a nearby apartment at the public housing complex for help, followed by Reed, and a man named William Grant opened the door.Grant, 22, used pepper spray to try and stop Reed, who responded by stabbing at Grant's right arm, causing several cuts.

Police said an officer responding to the scene saw Reed throw a bloody knife to the ground. According to the police report, after he was read his rights, Reed told officers, "Yeah, I did it. Just take me to jail.''

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Reed was charged with aggravated battery and trespassing.

Reed is being held in the Pinellas County Jail without bail.

According to Tarpon Springs police, Bullock and Grant were treated at the scene for cuts and did not require hospitalization.
