A 17-year-old Hernando High student faces criminal charges for bringing 21 oxycodone pills onto a school bus, authorities said.
The teenage boy, who is not being identified by the St. Petersburg Times because he is a juvenile, was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail on Tuesday. He was released to his guardian later in the day.
According to the arrest report, another student found an eyeglass case with the oxycodone pills on the bus en route to school Tuesday morning. Later that morning, the 17-year-old boy admitted to authorities that the case and the pills belonged to him.
The teen now faces charges of trafficking in drugs.
