TALLAHASSEE - Florida State has had little time to prepare for Jacksonville State and coaches are especially concerned about being ready for senior QB Ryan Perrilloux, who was once one of the top high school quarterbacks in the nation.

Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher recruited Perrilloux to LSU and coached him there during the 2006 season.

"He's a tough old boy, he's competitive, very athletic," Fisher said. "And, I don't mean this in a bad way, he knows he's a good player."

Perrilloux left LSU amid disciplinary issues.

UM: Moncur returns

CORAL GABLES - Miami senior DE Eric Moncur returned to practice, participating the most he has in weeks.

Moncur (groin) missed most of the preseason and the opener Monday at FSU, but may play sooner than expected. He could see action against Georgia Tech on Thursday.

Moncur was an expected starter before the injury.

GORDON HURT: Backup TE Richard Gordon had his left arm in a sling. Coach Randy Shannon declined comment, saying Gordon was fine. His status for the Georgia Tech game is unknown. Jimmy Graham would take his spot.

UCF: Pressure wanted

ORLANDO- Senior DT Torrell Troup said the Knights are focused on bringing the heat Saturday at Southern Miss.

UCF struggled to get significant pressure on Division I-AA Samford, a surprising problem.

"We pride ourselves on rushing the passer and we let him get out of the pocket way too much to make some plays down field," Troup said. "We put a real emphasis on that this week."

Troup said the Knights will have to know their assignments against a no-huddle offense.

changes at guard: Senior Cliff McCray moved to left guard, replacing junior Abre Leggins as a starter. Freshman Steven Robinson replaces McCray at the right guard.
