Great places, fabulous moms. Kara Hann and Autumn Jones want to bring them together in a new business with a flashy name, the Mommyista.

The longtime friends founded Mommyista to celebrate and inspire mothers through social and educational events in north Tampa. It's geared to the "confident, honest and savvy mother who walks through life with sass in her step,'' they say.

Mommyista kicks off with its 1st Big Bash on Monday at WineStyles in Wesley Chapel. Jones and Hann will give a company overview and outline upcoming events. The idea is to relax, meet other moms and have fun, minus the kids. It's free to any mom or mom-to-be.

"In talking with our girlfriends who have kids, we kept hearing: What is there to do with other moms?'' Jones said. "We thought we could be the liaison between all the cool stuff in the area and all the cool moms.''

Jones, 33, and Hann, 34, met several years ago as summer camp counselors in Leesburg. They stayed friends and later moved to Tampa: Jones to Land O'Lakes and Hann to New Tampa. Both are married with two sons under 3 years old.

The stay-at-home moms started Mommyista as a part-time gig. "We were trying to limit it to nap time and when the kids are in bed, but it's rolled over to other times of the day,'' Hann said.

But they aren't complaining. The interest level, so far, proves moms are looking for this type of social outlet.

Mommyista is planning a few moms' night outs a month. Each costs $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and moms who register at least a week in advance get a goody bag filled with coupons from local businesses and product samples. Next up is "Get more out of reading with your children'' by Karen Green, owner of the Reading Corner.

"We want to support moms but we want to celebrate them as well as women and moms,'' Hann said.
