The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders used a punishing ground attack to beat the Lakeland Christian Vikings in the district opener for both teams.
The Marauders (2-0) rushed for 248 yards, led by Eric Miller's 137 yards and three touchdowns to control the ball and the clock.
"With the way we were running the ball, hopefully we're smart enough to keep the ball on the ground," coach Mike Jalazo said.
Miller opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 1-yard TD run.
The Vikings defense held in the second quarter as Lakeland Christian took a 10-7 lead into halftime.
Miller scored on CCC's first possession of the second half.
"The kids challenged each other at halftime," Jalazo said. "They knew they had to come out and make plays."
The Marauders got 68 yards rushing from Justin Goodloe.
