Tarpon Springs combined a slashing running attack and a stingy defense into an easy victory over Dunedin 24-7 Friday.
Touted senior running back Adrian Golden rushed for first-half touchdowns of 54 and 85 yards. He finished the game with 214 rushing yards on 16 attempts, an average of 13.3 yards per attempt.
Fellow running back Darius Daniels added a 79-yard TD. They combined for 332 total rushing yards and led the Spongers to a 24-0 halftime lead.
Meanwhile, the Falcons' running game faltered, managing only 105 yards on 45 attempts. Their struggles on the ground were matched by a dismal passing game, as quarterback Ryan Singer completed just one of his first 10 passes for 9 yards. The Falcons' score came on a 2-yard run by Jezreel Saunders, whose work on the sweep was the only effective play for Dunedin.
Singer finished 5-of-16 for 59 passing yards and rushed for 39.
