ARLINGTON, Texas - Rangers CF Josh Hamilton received a third injection for a pinched nerve in his back on Friday and won't be available for "at least seven days" GM Jon Daniels said.
While his teammates hosted the Mariners, Hamilton was in California for a root-nerve epidural from a back specialist.
Daniels said he doesn't believe Hamilton will be out for the rest of the season.
"The doctor feels he'll be okay in a week or so," he said. "But we need to see him on the field before we do any speculating."
Cardinals: LF Matt Holliday played two days after bruising his left knee when he caught his spikes in the chalk line while running out a grounder.
Giants: RHP Tim Lincecum, scratched from Tuesday's start with spasms and inflammation in his back, said he felt "as close to normal as I can" after a bullpen session. The reigning Cy Young winner hopes to throw another bullpen session today and start Monday.
Orioles: RHP Koji Uehara was shut down for the season after he experienced more soreness in his right elbow. The Japanese import, out since June, made only 12 starts due to injuries but hoped to pitch out of the bullpen by the end of the season.
Yankees: LF Johnny Damon sat with a stiff lower back and is day to day.
