HE'D LOVE TO STRIKE UP THE BAND

Leonard Szczepanski of Spring Hill is hoping that someone out there has a trumpet or coronet they no longer need. Leonard used to play in a marching drum and bugle band as a teen, and would like to have an instrument to play for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He says he has many, and enjoys entertaining them and making them laugh. He can be reached at (352) 686-0622.

This week, two REXers are looking for unwanted books. Terri Norton is looking for a large variety of old books (hardback and some paperbacks). She would like for them to be in good shape, i.e. not water damaged or bug-eaten. Terri is especially interested in historical books, some biographies and books on specific subjects (too many subjects to list in the column). If you have books to donate, and could send a list of them to Terri via e-mail, at ticksfbi@hotmail.com, she'd appreciate it. If you don't have a computer, you can call (727) 393-6032 and leave a message.

Margaret Harris of Palm Harbor is also looking for specific kinds of books. She enjoys reading about Florida, so she is looking for any books by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. She would like to have Cross Creek, The Yearling, and The Sojourner, as well as any short stories by Rawlings. Margaret also likes any books about the Sunshine State. If you can help her, please call (727) 784-4297.

It's likely that at least one REXer who practices needle arts will be able to help Charlotte Graham of Spring Hill. She is looking for two needlepoint patterns from McCall's magazine. They appeared in the either late 1969 or 1970 or 1971. One pattern was for the Serenity Prayer, while the other featured a snail with the motto "Easy Does It." Charlotte has lost the patterns and is hoping someone out there will either have them or will be able to help her find them on the Internet. She can be reached at (352) 666-0014.
