IN MEMORIAM

The nation looked back somberly Friday on the anniversary of one of its darkest days, Sept. 11, 2001, when almost 3,000 people lost their lives to terrorist attacks, ultimately changing America and Americans. Across the country, service projects marked the anniversary. In Afghanistan, U.S. troops, fighting a war born of the attacks, ran in memory of those lost. "Let us renew our resolve against those who perpetrated this barbaric act and who plot against us still," President Barack Obama said at a Pentagon service.
