Orlando Lutheran Academy traveled more than two hours to face Calvary Christian on Friday. Then the Crusaders waited one hour and 15 minutes before the game started because of lightning. But they wasted no time scoring, getting a touchdown pass three minutes in.
The Crusaders then relied on their ground game, finishing with 305 yards in a 39-12 win. Ron Jackson had 141 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries.
The Warriors rushed for 241 yards, with senior Jordan Ankrom compiling 124 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. But the Warriors fumbled five times, losing three, and had seven penalties for 45 yards.
"We had a good club coming in; we couldn't have as many penalties and turnovers as we did," Warriors coach Chris Rivera said. "We got potential, though."
