Ricky Trinidad was the workhorse, but Friday night Matt Michaels got all the glory.

Trinidad carried the ball 23 times for 172 yards to lead Mitchell (2-0) to a 20-6 victory over Ridgewood (0-2). Despite all the carries and all the yards, Trinidad never crossed the end zone.

Michaels completed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Buono for one score and also had rushing touchdowns of 17 and 19 yards.

"Matt stepped up tremendously," Trinidad said. "He got in the end zone twice and threw one. Even though I didn't score any touchdowns, I'm fine with my team's win.

"I had a pretty good game. I could have done better. I should have found the end zone, too."

Trinidad wore No. 8 for the Mustangs and on the other side of the field Cameron Rodriguez wore No. 8 for the Rams.

Together, the two 8s combined for 320 yards. Rodriguez had 29 carries for 148 yards. Neither back scored.
