Hernando County Walgreens stores have signed on to help Gifts from Home send treats to troops serving overseas. The item for September is: Oreo brownies.

Each month, Walgreens selects an item and asks customers to purchase the item and place it into a collection box. Linda Kidwell, who runs Gifts from Home, will pick up the items and pack them in care packages heading to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Robert Grace, the former chief financial officer at Oak Hill Hospital, has been appointed CFO at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, S.C. His last day at Oak Hill was Sept. 4.

Grace, who was in his 10th year at Oak Hill, has been with HCA for 26 years. In addition to serving as CFO at Oak Hill, Grace served as chief ethics officer.

From 3:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 28, Texas Roadhouse, 12935 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill, will donate a portion of its receipts to help fund the Standing Tall for Veterans fallen soldier scholarship program.

Standing Tall For Veterans is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that awards scholarships to local ROTC students planning to join the military after college. The scholarships are presented in the name of a fallen soldier who had attended high school in Hernando County.
