A 28-year-old Tampa man was fatally shot in what Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say was a domestic dispute.
Sunday morning, Eric Brewer and his girlfriend, Shirley Sexton, 27, were sitting in a Chevrolet Blazer at 908 21st St. when William Privett pulled up in a Dodge beside them, the Sheriff's Office said.
Privett, 52, shot into the Chevrolet several times before getting into the passenger side of his vehicle and leaving the scene, officials said. Brewer and Sexton were taken to Tampa General Hospital, where Brewer later died, sheriff's reports said. Sexton remained in critical condition Sunday night.
Privett was Sexton's ex-boyfriend, authorities said. He later surrendered to his attorney, who alerted the Sheriff's Office. He was charged with first-degree murder. In 2007, Privett was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, Hillsborough County Jail records show.
Authorities are trying to locate Privett's vehicle and the man driving it at the time of the shooting. It is a orange and back 2005 Dodge with "Daytona" written on the side. The Florida tag number is: R580QV.
