MAN STRIKES GIRLFRIEND WITH KNIFE, DEPUTIES SAY

NEW PORT RICHEY

A 33-year-old man was arrested Saturday after Pasco County deputies say he threw a knife at his girlfriend, causing severe bleeding. Larry Grimes Jr. was charged with attempted murder. According to a report, he and his girlfriend got into an argument after she said she wanted to leave him. Grimes went into the kitchen for the knife and threw it at her, hitting her in the back, officials said. The woman was taken by helicopter to a Tampa hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Saturday. There was no update on her condition Sunday. Grimes is being held at the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

DRIVER KILLED AFTER PICKUP STRIKES TREES

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman. According to the patrol, Anne Ruffin Hennessy was traveling south on Mariner Boulevard on Sunday morning when her Ford pickup went into the median, hitting two trees. The vehicle then crossed the northbound lanes of Mariner Boulevard before hitting a third tree on the shoulder. Hennessy was not wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol.
